Why We Rescue Horses: A Journey of Healing + Hope
Why We Do It
At Palarm Creek Farms, our journey of rescuing horses began about 10 years ago. Over the past decade, we have opened our hearts and our gates to horses in need, providing them with a safe haven where they can heal and thrive.
One breed holds a special place in my heart: the American Saddlebred. This breed, with its grace and resilience, has not only found refuge at our farm but has also profoundly impacted my own life.
The Story of the American Saddlebred
American Saddlebreds (ASB) are known for their elegance, versatility, and spirited nature. Unfortunately, like many other breeds, they sometimes face neglect or abandonment. When we started our rescue mission, it quickly became apparent that these magnificent creatures had an exceptional capacity for connection and healing.
A Personal Connection
My affinity for American Saddlebreds runs deep. I received my first ASB when I was 5 years old. He was BEAUTIFUL in every way possible. He was 16.1 hands of fierce spirit and true bay in color. My heart horse, Tony was my everything for many years. He was my brother, my best friend, my therapist, and my warmth many nights. He saved me and in his honor, I do my small part to save the breed and bring breed awareness of how amazing they are! Their strength and beauty have been a source of inspiration and comfort.
Rescuing them has been a way to give back and honor the profound impact they have had on my life.
Each horse we rescue has a unique story, and our goal is to offer them a second chance. At Palarm Creek Farms, we provide the care, love, and attention they need to recover and flourish. Watching them transform and regain their spirit is a rewarding experience that reaffirms our commitment to this cause.
Our Mission and Vision
Rescuing horses is just one facet of our broader mission at Palarm Creek Farms. We are dedicated to fostering a holistic community where humans and animals can heal and grow together. Our programs, such as trauma-informed horse therapy and therapeutic art, aim to create a nurturing environment for all.
As we look to the future, our dreams continue to expand. We are excited to introduce new initiatives like constructing a Zen Garden and developing a community garden. These projects are designed to enhance the well-being of our community and provide more opportunities for connection and healing.
